Family engagement

Glendover offers a variety of opportunities for families to participate in their child's learning. Anyone interested in helping must first register as a volunteer with FCPS and clear a criminal background check. You can also explore districtwide opportunities through Give 10.

Attendance

Regular attendance is essential for good performance and high achievement.  A written excuse, dated and signed by the parent/guardian, is required for all absences. Excused absences include illness, death of an immediate family member, religious holidays for which prior approval is given, medical and dental appointments, and special cases approved by the principal. Students are tardy if they arrive after 7:45 a.m. and must obtain a tardy slip from the office.

Transportation

Every student must have a current transportation form on file each year. It is important to ensure you child gets home safely and so we can contact you if your child is injured or ill. Make sure that we have updated names and telephone numbers of people authorized to pick up your child. We will not release a child to anyone not listed on the fom. Please notify the office immediately if any details change throughout the school year. 

Pick-up

If you are picking up your child at dismissal time, please wait outside the building. No change in transportation will be permitted unless we have a written note from the family; a telephone call is not sufficient.  During the school day, you must come into the office to sign out your child. Students are only released from class when called from the office.

Parking

Please do not park in areas that are not marked as parking spaces. Watch out for children exiting cars and crossing the lot, and watch for drivers backing out of parking places.  The car rider lane is for morning drop-off and afternoon pickup only and should be left open for emergency vehicles when the building is occupied. If you are coming into the building to check out a child for an appointment or from Prime Time, please park in designated spaces in the parking lot.

Visit the district's IC Parent Portal support site where you can:

• Request an activation key to create a Parent Portal account;
• Reset your password or retrieve your username.
• Ask for extra assistance.
